The WILD PLAY Discovery Centre, Centennial Parklands, Sydney
The Big Bat Night at Centennial Park – 4:30-6:30PM, Centennial Park Sydney. 2 hour program for families. $35 for 1 child and 1 adult Tickets
Big Bat Night is a fun evening for children and their families who are curious about the Grey-headed Flying Foxes that live in Centennial Park.
Discover the fascinating world of bats! Over two exciting hours, kids can explore the lives of these incredible nocturnal animals through engaging activities, hear amazing stories from expert wildlife carers about rescuing injured and orphaned bats, and witness the breathtaking fly-out of Sydney’s largest flying-fox colony at sunset.
The night begins at the Discovery Centre with a creative nature craft activity where kids can make something to take home. Families then head out on a guided walk with our educators and a bat expert to see the colony.
As the sun sets, everyone gathers to watch the flying foxes take off for the night. Along the way, we talk about why these bats are so important for seed dispersal and pollination, and why they choose to live in Centennial Park.
The program starts early enough in the evening so younger children can experience the bat fly-out before bedtime.
Suitable for children aged 5–12 years. Adult supervision is required. Accompanying adults can attend for free and do not require a ticket
