Mornington Peninsula National Park β Rye Ocean Beach
Activity description:
Join us on the beach to learn about the resilient Hooded Plover! Discover how they use camouflage to hide their eggs and chicks. Look for ‘hoodie’ food amongst the seaweed and see if you can identify potential threats. Best of all, learn how you can help protect them!
Important information:
We will spend our entire session on the sandy beach, where there is no shade. Please be prepared for any weather condition – hot sun, gusty wind and rain – and wear appropriate shoes and clothing. It’s a good idea to bring a hat, sunglasses, rain jacket and water bottle, and apply sunscreen prior. There are toilets at Rye Ocean Beach, within a short walk of the car park. Please note: Rye Ocean Beach car park is off Dundas Street, Rye. Google Maps can sometimes take participants to St Andrews Beach car park off Paradise Drive. Double-check you are being guided to the correct address before leaving home.
